Reception - Oak and Ash 2020 - 2021
Welcome To Reception
This page is for all our reception children in Ash and Oak class. We will use this page to share information with you and also tell you what we have been doing each week. We will also share ideas for activities you can do at home to support your learning.
Ideas for Supporting your child at home
We use an online learning journey in school called Tapestry. This can also be used at home to share any photos or any activities you have done. You should have been sent an activation email, once you have activated your account you are ready to use. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com if you are having any problems activating your account or if you have not received an email.
If your child is self isolting please visit google classroom where work will be provided.

Arrangements for the start and end of the school day
In order to limit the number of people in the areas outside of school and in the playground and keep keep you, your parents and school staff safe, we are having staggered start and end times.
Ash class will start at 8.40am and come into school via their outside classroom door and then leave the same way at 3.05pm. Oak class will start at 8.50am and come into school via their outside classroom door and then leave the same way at 3.15pm. We will have notices on the doors and in the playgroud to show you where to go.
What you need to bring each day
Everyday you will need to bring a coat (we spend lots of time outside), your school book bag and a named water bottle (no juice please). If you are having a school lunch we ask that disposable packaging is used at this time.
Ash Class will need to come to school wearing PE kits on Fridays.
Oak Class will need to come to school wearing PE kits on Wednesdays.
Current topic - Sunshine and Sunflowers
In the Sunshine and Sunflowers project your child will explore their local environment and see how it has changed throughout the year. They will grow flowers, fruit and vegetables in the garden area. They will learn how to care for plants and animals, identifying some different types. They will take part in outdoor learning activities and find out how to stay safe in the sun.
Supporting your child at home
- Grow some quick growing plants together, such as salad leaves, radishes or cress.
- Plan and go on a picnic.
- Go on a local walk and talk about the changes that have happened to living things throughout the year.
- Share and discuss the Did you know? resource.
