Miss Bateman (Class Teacher) Mrs Wood (HLTA) Mrs Paley (TA) Mrs Foulkes (TA)
Miss Bateman is the regular class teacher. Mrs Wood is our class HLTA in the mornings and will also cover PPA on a Wednesday morning. Mr Howsam and Mr Perry will also be covering PPA for PE and Spanish. Mrs Paley will be working in class on a specialist basis every morning and Tuesday-Friday afternoons. Mrs Foulkes will be working in class on a specialist basis on a Monday afternoon.
It is really important that we have good communication between school and our parents/carers, so if you have any concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to contact me on our class email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Usually I would have an open door policy at the end of the school day for you to come and have a chat with me but that will be difficult with the restrictions that are currently in place. Therefore, please email me with any issues/ concerns and I will reply by email or phone if necessary.
Autumn 1 - Paws, Claws and Whiskers
Our first Cornerstones topic is Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers... What's your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers?
From pets at home to animals in the zoo, let's find out what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep. Do you know how to look after a rabbit? A cat? Or even a snake?
Find out how the elephant got his trunk and how the rhinoceros got his leathery skin... Perhaps you know how the dog got his waggy tail? Can you make a food chain to show who eats who? Who is a herbivore and who is a carnivore?
Your child will be given a new reading book based on their own reading ability for them to read at home with an adult, plus a book to be shared together from the library. Reading journals and books need to be in school everyday. Encourage your child to read to you daily. Regular reading has a massive impact on your child's progress across all subjects. When your child reads with you please date and sign your reading journal so that we can monitor children's progress properly. Check your reading journal daily as we might write you a note.
PLEASE NOTE PE STARTS THE SECOND WEEK BACK WB: 7th Sept
P.E will be taught on a Wednesday morning with Mr Howsam and Thursday afternoon with Miss Bateman. Please note from September we are asking that on a Wednesday and Thursday children come to school in their PE kits to avoid dressing/undressing in school.
Homework will be provided online. More information to follow...
