Year 4 Cherry 2018 - 2019
Welcome to Year 4!
We have lots of interesting things to learn about during the Summer term and will start our new topic Traders and Raiders very soon. Don't forget to visit our school Facebook and Twitter pages for information and pictures.
As ever we will endeavour to keep you up to date with events, information and resources through our website. If you have any suggestions, please get in touch! For any information on homework and class organisation please see the links on this page. Let's have a wonderful final half-term term together!
Miss Cope (Class Teacher) and Mrs Armour (Class Teaching Assistant)
Please note that PE days are Mondays and Fridays, although PE kit should be in school every day. PE kit should include black shorts, school house t-shirt, pumps, trainers, and may also include jogging bottoms/jacket for outfoor lessons.
Swimming will start on Wednesday 13th March. Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit on school every Wednesday. Our final swimming lesson will be on Wednesday 12th June.
After a great success in the Spring, we will continue with our new homework format. For the Summer term, homework will consist of 2 set tasks (see letter), reading and spelling activites. Challenges may also be set on SumDog or Times Tables Rockstars. Please speak to Miss Cope for login details.
Reading books and journals should be in school every day, as the shared reading slot may change. Please note these are checked at least weekly.
We encourage your child to remain in touch with current affairs, so that they can stay informed and begin to form opinions about important issues. I highly recommend watching Newsround and discussing the day’s news. There is also a fun weekly quiz. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/
I will add some useful Maths websites below as we progress through the year and cover different areas of the Year 4 curriculum. By the end of Year 4, pupils should know multiplication and division facts up to 12x12. We will practise this lots in class, but extra practise at home will help too.
