  2. Today we are starting a new project! Complete these three activities:
Activity 1

Watch the advert Save the wild tigers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shslDsoUA-w

Pause the film clip before the text comes up - what do we think this advert is for? Watch up to the words appearing- how do you feel about this? Watch again - Why is the advert effective? How does it make you feel? How does it appeal to your senses what can you see, hear, feel?

Complete a zone of relevance for how the advert makes us feel. Use words in resources to start with then add in your own words too. Narrow word choices down to a most relevant word. Take the key word and consider sounds, colour, camera angle and how the maker of the advert is creating the effects.
Discuss in small groups with a focus on each element in turn.

This sheet is in the Google Drive folder.

Activity 2

Writing task record in first person how the advert made you feel. Consider how to structure writing. Apply some of the words discussed in the zones of relevance.

My Example:

Tiger Bone Wine Advert

This advert was created to inform people about the poaching of tigers. It provides a powerful message throughout. The overall effect made me feel troubled. Troubled as people are killing tigers in order to make money through the production of Tiger Bone Wine. The director of the advert used sound to create a frightening effect. Sounds of guns being shot were used against the slow music of ‘ten green bottles’. This contrast created an eeriness and made me feel frightened throughout. The gun shots were loud and seemed to echo. This sound is one I can still hear in my head. Colour was used to highlight the troubled effect further. The Tiger Bone wine bottles were placed on posts behind dark green trees. These bottles were shown to explode in time with the gunshots and bright red wine splattered out. My eyes were completely drawn to the wine when the bottle exploded. The effect was powerful. The camera angle….
