Welcome to The Arts section of the curriculum.
At Sutton Green we teach Art, Design Technology and Music using a cross curricular approach. Please have a look at the photographs and files below to see examples of how we use cross curricular Arts.
In KS1 and KS2 Art and DT lessons are linked to our History and Geography topics. In EYFS Art and DT are linked to their weekly theme.
Art and DT lessons are skills based with the aim of teaching and developing skills outlined in the National or Early Years Curriculum.
Every classroom displays beautiful examples of children’s work and collaborative projects are displayed in the corridors. Please see the ‘Literacy’ section of the curriculum tab for examples of whole school collaborations.
We have two teachers who are qualified Arts Award assessors and work with their classes to enable every child to achieve an Arts Award certified by Trinity College.
We also aim to provide children with enriching opportunities, such as working with local artists and exhibiting their work at local Arts Festivals.
Birch class worked with local artist Jan Gardner to create a piece to be exhibited at Ellemere Port Arts Festival, Civic Hall. It was also part of their Arts Award, certified by Trinity College London.
We exhibited our exciting art work last year at the Neston Arts Festival at Neston high school in July 2016
Next time you are at Ellesmere Port Bus Station, look out for Sutton Green's giant poster, designed with a transport theme.
We have previously held a very popular and successful lunchtime art club for year 3 pupils, providing additional opportunities for devlopment.
