Our Topic - Bounce

Throw it, catch it, roll it, bounce it, up and down and side to side! This half term, we’ll look closely at the different types of balls in sports, how they are used and what materials they are made from. We’ll learn about people who are famous because of their sporting achievements such as Pele and Tanni Grey-Thompson and look at what problems they have faced and how they have overcome them. We will learn about the special equipment people use to be able to play sport, how the human body moves and how animals move.

At the end of our project, we are going to create a Sporting Challenge day for parents and carers.

Help your child prepare for their project

Sporting is fascinating! Why not invent your own game and try them out with your family and friends. Alternatively, research a famous sportsman and write a fact file about them. A ball is a sphere! Go on a sphere hunt around your house and garden and draw the spheres you find.

Reading  - Journals to be in school every day with your child's reading book.  Your child will be given two reading books, one from their phonics lesson which they should be able to read, and one of their choice to be enjoyed at home. Encourage your child to read to you daily. Studies stipulate that reading for pleasure not only improves literacy skills but also maths and other areas of the curriculum.
